Built to help expats find homes in Vietnam

ExpatHaus is a property platform built for the foreigners moving to and around Vietnam, with a Vietnamese language toggle for local agents and agencies. Every listing is checked before it goes live; every search stays private. No cold calls, no kickbacks.

Why this exists

Finding a rental in Vietnam as a foreigner is harder than it should be. The biggest local portals are Vietnamese-only, the English-language ones are thin and full of stale or fake listings, and the standard playbook ends up being "post your budget on a Facebook group and field cold calls." None of that is great when you've just landed in a country where you don't speak the language and aren't ready to share your phone number with a stranger.

ExpatHaus is a small attempt to fix that, built by a student at the University of Florida who watched friends and family struggle through the same housing search every time they moved to Vietnam. The bar for adding any feature is "does this make the housing search measurably less stressful for someone who arrived two weeks ago?" If not, it doesn't ship: real English copy, listings that have to prove they exist before they appear, and a contact model that defaults to email instead of phone.

What this site is

  • Bilingual — English and Vietnamese, with a flag toggle in the header.
  • Email-only. Renters save private alerts; agents are notified by email when a search matches.
  • Built around verifiable trust signals: every listing's owner confirms by email before it appears, and licensed agencies are checked against Vietnam's National Business Registration Portal.
  • Open to renters and agents in early access while the platform finds its footing.

What it isn't

  • A booking platform — we don't take payments, hold deposits, or sign contracts on anyone's behalf.
  • A vetting service for individual units — we verify the agent or owner, not the four walls.
  • A cold-call board — agents never see seekers' phone numbers, and we don't sell or share contact data.
  • Legal advice — the Legal FAQ summarizes common rules, but consult a Vietnamese lawyer for your specific situation.

How we count visitors

The strip at the top of every page shows the number of unique visitors over the last 30 days. We count one visitor per IP address per day — repeat visits the same day don't inflate the number, and visits on different days do.

We don't use cookies for this. Each IP is salted and SHA-256 hashed before it's written to the database, so the row never holds the raw IP. The salt rotates daily and lives only in environment variables, which means a leaked database dump can't be reversed back to anyone's IP. Crawlers and bots are filtered by user agent before counting.
